Undershadows [Update]
Undershadows » Devlog
Bug fixes and improvements:
- In the Portal room, when entering the Shadow World, the pad for the code is now more visible.
- In the Portal room, the note has been slightly modified as it could have been misunderstood.
- In the machine puzzle, the switches were not loaded properly after the covers were removed.
- A sequence in the cage room was not loaded correctly.
- Trophies were not activated correctly in the [In Game Desktop].
- A one-time tutorial for loading in the gallery now appears when entering the desktop screen via the [Esc] menu, or when restarting the game if a save file already exists.
- The tutorial in the school has been revised to make the Mouse Eye and save function more visible.
- An icon now appears in the top-right corner when the game is saved.
- Some enemies in the first area have been adjusted to deal less damage.
- Some players misunderstood the intentionally ‚trash‘ start. It is meant to show how the shadows take over your PC and improvise. To clarify any confusion, I’ve added a conversation where the shadows address the state of things.
- The machine puzzle has been expanded with a new button. This moves the rows completely down, so it no longer takes forever to reach the desired point.
- Additionally, small visual hints have been added to the machine puzzle.
- Revising the grammar of the text, except for the beginning of the game, because the shadows also messed up the grammar in their "program".
- Redesigning the intro so that it’s not so long, or adding an optional feature.
- The [Esc] menu, which becomes available after entering the Grasslands, now includes a tab for “Options”, where you can adjust the volume, and an "Exit" button to quit the game more quickly.
- The intro has been completely removed and will be made optionally accessible at a later point. The game now starts directly before the house sequence.
- Several cuts were made during the classroom and soul sequence to reduce the time it takes to reach the Shadow Realm.
- A bug with the second campfire has been fixed, so you are now sent to sleep immediately without saving.
- A bug with the second campfire when talking to the Mask has been fixed, where an empty field was displayed that served no purpose.
- For the first boss, the Mushroom King, a feature has been added where a checkpoint will be unlocked if you die more than five times in the second or third phase.
- The enemies in the first two maps of the Grasslands have been made slightly weaker and now have less health, as it was found that with a level 1 Shadow, you couldn't achieve much.
- Some hidden items, like Shadow Cookies and Shadow Coffee, have been placed along the way to the Cave of Souls. Finding these will make the early game up to level 2 a little easier.
- The school and soul sequences, as well as the conversation with the Mask, have been significantly shortened.
- A bug with the glass has been fixed, when the Shadow was pulled out of the ground.
- In the machine puzzle, visual numbers have been added to the switches for better understanding, indicating which number they are assigned to.
- The campfire has been revised. You can now choose whether to rest or just save. This way, you don’t have to watch the entire sleeping scene again.
- The Mushroom King has also been revised. If you die for the first time, the mask transformation part will be skipped, and the fight will start immediately.
- The code puzzle at the beginning has received an additional hint to provide more clarity.
- An extra hint has also been added to the machine puzzle.
- At the beginning of the game, some corrections were made to the drawings and text passages.
- The intro sequence has been shortened.
- Some conversations about the shadows have been added in the school area.
- The robbery sequence with the mask has been significantly sped up.
- The text conversations now wait for the player’s input [100%].
- Additional visual clues have been added in the trash room to help identify the light switches more easily.
- Several bug fixes regarding images.
